What it is

Two floors of the building are Safehouse. Each apartment is self-contained, which is the part that matters if you are here for more than a weekend. You get a double bed, a sofa, a real desk, a private bathroom with a tub, and a kitchen with a hob, a fridge and a washing machine.

It is not a resort and we are not pretending otherwise. It is clean, the air conditioning works, the wifi is fibre, and you are standing in the best-located soi in Chiang Mai when you walk out the door.

Your own kitchen

Hob, fridge, kettle, sink and a washing machine. Long stays do not have to eat out twice a day.

A proper bathtub

Not a wet room with a drain in the floor. An actual tub, which is rarer in Chiang Mai rentals than it should be.

Full-size desk, office chair, and fibre wifi. Half the people who stay here are working.

Balcony over the soi

Fourth floor looks out across the rooftops. Best twenty minutes of the day is about six in the evening.

One thing worth saying plainly

There is a licensed cannabis dispensary on the ground floor of this building and a customer lounge on the second. Staying here has nothing to do with either, nobody will mention it to you, and the rooftop coffee shop is open to everyone. We would rather you knew before you booked than after.

Is Safehouse above a cannabis dispensary?

Yes. The Spot, a licensed cannabis dispensary, is on the ground floor of the same building, with a customer lounge on the second. Staying at Safehouse has nothing to do with buying cannabis and there is no requirement to visit either. The rooftop coffee shop, Sway CNX, is open to everyone.

Is Safehouse good for long stays and remote work?

It is set up for it. Every apartment has a full-size desk and chair, fibre wifi, a kitchen and a washing machine, which is what separates a month-long stay from a hotel room. Nimman is the district most remote workers in Chiang Mai choose.
